The setup

Weak payroll data changed the rate conversation. Treasury yields eased, the discount-rate pressure on growth stocks relaxed, and risk appetite returned across both mega-cap technology and smaller companies.

That does not make the path simple. It makes the next macro checkpoint unusually clear: if inflation remains contained, the market can keep treating lower yields as support. If inflation reaccelerates, valuation pressure returns quickly.

What the tape is saying

The strongest detail was not the Nasdaq rebound by itself. It was participation. The Russell 2000 joined the move, suggesting that investors were willing to move beyond the narrowest group of AI leaders.

Breadth is not a promise. It is a quality check. A rally carried by more sectors has more ways to continue; a rally carried by five names has fewer.

The practical read

Favor businesses that can connect AI spending to revenue, backlog and cash generation. Lower yields help the narrative, but earnings evidence determines which companies can hold the gains.

This week, watch CPI, producer prices, retail sales and the direction of Treasury yields. Together they will tell us whether the repricing is becoming a trend or was simply a one-week relief move.
